If you're looking for delicious a delicious dip to serve with your next loaf of sourdough bread, then you have to try this family friendly smooth avocado dip! It's a cinch to make and will get rave reviews from everyone that tries it!
You can keep things fresh by adding any fresh herbs you have on hand and cut through the creaminess of the avocado with a generous squeeze of lime juice.

Why You'll Love This Recipe!
Goes With Anything - this is going to be your go to dip this summer! Seriously, you can pair this dip with so many things from crackers, fresh vegetable sticks, crostini, sourdough bread. You're only limited by your imagination.
Throw It Together - this easy, creamy avocado dip is literally thrown together and ready in minutes, making it super convenient in so many situations!
Fresh or Frozen Avocado - While I always have a couple of fresh avocado in my fridge, for those months when avocado are super expensive, frozen avocado work really well in this dip too! Just let the frozen flesh thaw at room temperature for 30 minutes before using.
Ingredients
- Avocados - you'll need the flesh of 2 avocados for this easy dip. This is literally the reason I always have avocado in the fridge. I've also tried this with frozen avocado and it works just fine.
- Greek yogurt - I've used Greek yogurt but you can use any firm, pot set yogurt you like. You don't want to use a runny yogurt as it will make the dip too runny, so definitely stick with pot set yogurts.
- Lime juice - Lime juice provides the perfect citrus cut through to the creaminess of the avocado. You can use lemon juice as an alternative.
- Garlic Powder - I prefer using garlic powder for this dip as I find it's less "hot" than raw garlic, especially when making it for my kids.
- Salt & Pepper
- Fresh Herbs - these are optional, but I find they add such a lovely freshness to the dip. I love using mint, chives, dill, parsley or coriander (cilantro).

How To Make Creamy Avocado Dip
Place all of the ingredients into a food processor and blitz for one minute or until smooth and creamy. If using fresh herbs, it may take an extra minute to become smooth.
If you are using ripe avocados and no herbs, this creamy avocado dip is suitable for making in a stand mixer, but a food processor will give you a creamier, smoother result.

What Else Can You Add To This Dip?
While I love eating this creamy avocado dip just as it is, there are other flavors and ingredients that you can add to vary the flavor. Here are some ideas to keep things fresh and interesting:
- Chilli Avocado Dip - add a teaspoon or two of red chilli flakes or a fresh chopped jalapeño to your dip for a spicy twist.
- Corn & Pepper Avocado Dip - once you've blitzed the dip in a food processor, add a few tablespoons of corn kernals and diced peppers. I like to just mix these through before serving, otherwise they will get chopped up in the food processor. You can also add more to the top of the dip for garnish.
- Cumin Twist - A teaspoon of cumin and pinch of black pepper adds a warming twist to this dip for something a little different.

How Long Does This Keep?
While avocado can go brown, the lime juice in this recipe ensures that this creamy avocado dip stays green for at least 24 hours, meaning you can make this recipe a day ahead if you need to.
Store creamy avocado dip in an airtight glass jar or plastic covered bowl in the fridge for up to 24 hours. The dip may discolor after this time but would still be ok to eat (I eat it like this, but my kids will only eat it when it's fresh and green).
